
Larry Shippee
ASA, EA, MSPA
Founder and CEO
Larry Shippee brings an extensive depth of experience to the employee benefits industry. He has held the position of Chief Actuary for a national benefits consulting firm and has also served as Chief Actuary for a major life insurance company that specializes in the employee benefit marketplace. In 1987 he founded The Benefits Consulting Group, with the mission of providing a specialized, full-service approach to retirement plan support.
Mr. Shippee has appeared on the program of the Enrolled Actuaries Meeting in Washington, DC. and has been a featured speaker at various other professional associations. He is an Associate in The Society of Actuaries, a member of the American Society of Enrolled Actuaries, and a member of The American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries. He is enrolled by the Joint Board for The Enrollment of Actuaries to perform actuarial services before the Internal Revenue Service.
When he is not playing with numbers, Larry enjoys playing his blues harmonica, woodworking, live music, spending time with his grandson, and exploring the country on his Harley Davidson.

Lori Mayer
EA, QPA
Senior Pension Consultant
Lori has worked in the employee benefits field since 1995. She began her career in the benefits department of a fortune 500 company and has since held administrative and consulting positions with several pension consulting firms. She has been with The Benefits Consulting Group since 1997.
Lori graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Since then, she has become an enrolled actuary and earned the designation of a Qualified Pension Administrator. She has been a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries since 2000.
When Lori is not keeping busy with work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids going boating and camping.

Paula Pimentel
ERPA
Senior Pension Consultant
Paula Pimentel joined The Benefits Consulting Group in 2025, bringing with her over 30 years of extensive experience in retirement planning and administration. Throughout her career, Paula has held a variety of key positions, including Director of Administration, Regional Manager, Compliance, and Training Coordinator. This diverse background has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of retirement plan management and regulatory compliance.
Paula holds the Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA) designation through the IRS, a testament to her specialized knowledge and commitment to maintaining the highest standards in her field. Her expertise spans all aspects of plan administration, ensuring that clients receive knowledgeable and compliant consulting services.
Outside of work, Paula enjoys traveling and spending time with her three grandchildren.

Steve Mackenthun
Pension Consultant
Steve Mackenthun is a Pension Consultant with BCG, which he joined in 2024. He began his career in the retirement plan industry in 2017.
Steve holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Minnesota--Carlson School of Management and has previous experience in financial analysis, research, and marketing strategy.

Emma Shippee

Pension Administrator
After graduating with a B.S. degree in Mathematics from the University of Kansas, Emma started working in the retirement planning field in 2020 with a TPA firm in the Kansas City area. She maintains a Qualified 401(k) Administrator credential from the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries.
Emma joined the BCG team in 2023 as a pension administrator, and is currently working towards earning a Qualified Pension Administrator credential.

Tania Schmall
Senior Administrative Assistant
Tania has been with The Benefits Consulting Group since 2018 and currently serves as the Senior Administrative Assistant. In her role, she manages day-to-day operations, and coordinates company projects to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Known for her dedication and strong work ethic, Tania brings a passion for assisting clients and participants and a deep commitment to the success of the team and company alike.
Outside of work, Tania enjoys spending time with her two adult children, ages 21 and 23, and her dog, Brock, a senior rescue. She is also passionate about working with rescue dogs and helping place them in loving homes. Tania’s compassion, organization, and genuine care for others make her an invaluable part of The Benefits Consulting Group family.

Robin Clark
Administrative Assistant
Robin Clark joined The Benefits Consulting Group in 2023 and serves as an Administrative Assistant supporting plan administration and client services.
With a background in business management, she brings strong organizations skills, and a commitment to delivering quality service to clients and colleagues alike. Since joining the BCG team, she has developed a solid understanding of plan operations and enjoys contributing to the firm’s commitment to accuracy and exceptional client services, as part of a team that provides trusted administrative support to our clients.
Outside of her passion at work, Robin enjoys spending time with family, having fun and baking with her nieces and nephews. She loves animals, relaxing at home with a good movie, and participating in small group and community gathering.
